Space Model Making Course

(4 days course)

Highlight

Space model making is a way to showcase the spatial planning of architectural, interior, and even urban designs, giving viewers a more immersive experience and a more comprehensive understanding of the design features of the space. This helps them to comprehend the concepts and ideas behind the designers' work.

This course is conducted through individual or group cooperation. It introduces famous architects and their spatial design concepts, followed by practical applications in learning about the types of drawings, proportional concepts, material applications, cutting and assembling props. Students will experience the spatial design process and steps of architects, enabling them to analyze floor plans and create scaled models. They will apply the theory and skills learned in the course to their own work.

Course Details

This course is suitable for teenagers and adults with no prior experience in model making.

The course consists of 4 sessions, each 4 hours long, for a total of 16 hours.

Over the course of 16 hours, students will start by learning the basics of spatial design and plan drawing. They will gradually master the skills of making and assembling physical space models, thereby enhancing their ability to visualize and realize spatial concepts in their minds.

The course includes the following topics:

  • Introduction to architectural cases and tools

  • Study of plan, elevation, and section drawings

  • Proportions of volume and model

  • Cutting and assembly of model materials

  • Application of model colors and effects

During the first half hour of each session, the instructor will optimize students' work, address questions they may have encountered during the course or personal practice, and deepen their understanding of the course content. Students can use this time to review the course content, or bring their own practice works to ask the instructor questions. If students are interested in other Kwong.Art courses, the instructor will also share information about those courses.
